gbcal: Addresses of California Gasoline Stations

Database search tips

This search facility is like a Web search engine. Use it to find street address information for a gasoline station for which you have a fresh price observation. Use that street address information in your posting to your gasbuddy.com Web site.

Enter one or more "query terms" into the search box, separating multiple query terms by spaces. Order does not matter. You can use one or more of these data types:

  • All or part of the business name (for example, Shell)
  • All or part of the address (for example, Broadway)
  • All or part of the city name (for example, Sacramento)
  • All or part of the zip code (for example, 90031)
  • All or part of the county name (for example, Orange)

Example: Shell Broadway Oakland

More detailed searching rules and examples

  • Searches are not case sensitive. For example, SHELL, Shell, and shell all find the same records.
  • To specify that a query term must be the beginning (or all) of the city name, start the term with "CI:". For example, CI:Sacramento will find records in the city of Sacramento, but not records containing an address on Sacramento Street in another city, and not records in another city in Sacramento County.
  • To specify that a query term must be the beginning (or all) of the county name, start the term with "CO:". For example, CO:Orange will find records in Orange County but not records containing an address on Orange Street in another county.
  • To specify that a query term must be the beginning (or all) of the zip code, start the term with "Z:". For example, Z:946 will find records with zip codes beginning with 946 but not records of stations with street addresses containing "946".
  • Strings of letters and numbers in the database that are 4 or more characters long can be found by searching for 4 or more characters. For example, Z:95821 finds all records in that zip code, and Z:958 finds all records in zip codes beginning with 958, but neither Z:9 nor 958 will find any records.
  • Separate multiple terms with a space. For example, use Folsom CI:Sacramento to search for records that contain the letter strings Folsom and CI:Sacramento.
  • If you search with multiple terms, you will find only those records that contain both terms. Searching for Folsom CI:Sacramento will not find stations on Folsom Blvd in the city of Rancho Cordova or stations on Broadway in the city of Sacramento.
