A Guide to California's Big Sur

Along the Highway

Point Piedras Blancas Vista Points

The large north vista point and adjacent boardwalk on the west side of Highway 1 provide a view of an elephant seal rookery and interpretive exhibits. Docents with the organization Friends of the Elephant Seal may be present to assist visitors.

The south vista point is an additional vista point with coastal access about 1.1 miles south of this one, at mile marker SLO 61.3, but it does not provide a view of the rookery.
